About William Moorcroft
William Moorcroft began his career in 1897 as a designer at James Macintyre & Co. Ltd. in Staffordshire. His designs were an instant success and quickly gained notoriety in the world of ceramics. In 1913, Moorcroft decided to open his own ceramic factory in Staffordshire, and his pottery continued to grow in popularity. Before long, Moorcroft pottery was being sold at prestigious stores such as Liberty of London, Harrods, and Tiffany & Co. In 1928, Moorcroft was appointed "Potter to H.M. the Queen."

The mark found at the base of the vase has the Moorcroft Royal Warrant paper label stating, "By Appointment Potters To The Late Queen Mary."
