Antique French blue opaline glass cylindrical hinged cigarette box and ashtrays with ormolu mounts. Each ashtray features a decorative ormolu mount with cigarette hold. This antique opaline cylindrical glass cigarette box and ashtray set was made in the late 1800s to early 1900s. The set was made in France and is made of solid blue colored opaline glass. All three pieces have brass colored ormolu metal mounts. The glass is unmarked.

The cylindrical box is fully supported by the well made hinge and the metal is secured in place and not glued and no problems closing. The ormolu mount on both ashtrays is secured in place and also not glued. These stunning pieces are further enhanced by blue opaline which changes in different light.

Condition: antique, gentle used, very good. Cigarette box gilt mount, bottom rim, has manufacturing scratches (on glass) on the inside area of cylinder (not noticeable on outside). Does not seem to have compromised the gilt mount, glass or boxes integrity.
Approximate measurements: hinged box is 4-¼ inches high by 2-½ inch diameter and ashtrays are 1-¼ inches high by 3-½ inch diameter.

The guilt work has an aged patina I have not polished the gilt mount as true collectors will want to maintain the value of the piece and polishing will devalue these treasures.
